I for one don’t use Bit.ly, or Ow.ly or whatever, even if it means editing nearly all my retweets. Because the .ly domain is a moneymaker for Libya and it means whatever Qaddafi wants is the law there. Including the validity of your website if you are daft enough to get a *.ly address for sex-positive content – and the dictator’s minions suddenly decide they need to remind the world of their allegiance to radical islamism by censoring you.
